Waiuta Slideshow

Room 5 went on camp to a place called Waiuta. When we were at Waiuta we had to perform plays about how gold was first discovered. When we got back to school we had to make a stop motion animation about how it was discovered. Here is mine and Violets.

Camp Waiuta

In Room 5 we went to Waiuta for our Camp. We had go into cars so that we could get there. I went with Blake, Angus  and Annabelle.  

My Reading Profile

In room 5 we had to read a book and then we had to make a google drawing. We had to write our goals for term 4 and what  books  we are reading.  We had to  note down the book that we are reading at home.

Pet Day

At our school we had a Pet Day. We had to make a slideshow about Pet Day. Jo took photos of our pets so we could put them on our slideshows.  I took a cat to Pet Day.  I hope you  enjoy watching it.

Chairs

In Room 5 we decorated chairs. We had to have magazines then we could put anything we wanted on them. We cut up hunting pictures from magazines and put them on our chairs  but we had to clean them first. Then we glued the pictures on the chair. We did it because the chairs  were in the shed and they were not getting used so we could make them better. I like our chair because I like hunting.   Here is my group, Haylee and Sophie and Talhia.

Descriptive sentence for the holidays

my class had to make a google drawing with a  describes feelings of one of the characters from the book  we have read and here is mine.

Collage

Room Five had to make a collage that is made of pages from magazines that are blue, green and yellow. We had to make it based on a problem for the environment. We had to put a beach, a ocean, some land if we wanted to and we had to put some animals that are dying from plastic. Zoe and I made a collage that had a beach, some land, and ocean. Next time we do this I think that we should have plastic that you can see better because the plastic was blending in with the colours on the collage.

Bin Liners

In Room 5 we have been learning how to write to persuade. We had to persuade our principal how we do not need plastic bin liners. We had to write three reasons and we had to have three paragraphs.  Here is my writing about bin liners.

10th September 2018

Dear Mrs Wallace,

At Awahono School there is a problem, the problem is there is too much plastic bin liners. I strongly believe that we should ban plastic bin liners because all that goes in there is dry things like paper that are in the classroom. There are three good reasons why I believe that bin liners should be banned in the classroom.

Firstly, it can save a lot of money because we use 2 thousand bin liners every year. You could save more money on books or on more paper for the classrooms. I think we should ban plastic bin liners because we can save more money. .

Secondly, when the bin liners are used they go into a big pile of rubbish that is called landfill which is like a dump. In winter when it rains the landfill fills up with water and washes the plastic away into the sea and kills the animals.

Finally, we use 10 bin liners in a day and in a week 50, in a term it is 500 of them and  in a year it is 2,000. We need to stop, it is too much.

In conclusion I believe that we need to stop using bin liners in the classrooms.

Little House in the Prairie

In Room 5 we are reading about a book that is called Little House in the Prairie. We had to do all the activities. Here is one of them. It is a slide show. By Haylee and Violet and me.

Batman

In Room 5 we have been reading a story byte about Batman and his life. We had to try to find a way to solve his problems and we had to make a slideshow about Batman. Here is my slideshow.

 

El Gregoe

El Gregoe is a magician and he came to our school yesterday. He came here to tell us about bullying. The magic trick I liked was when he made a guinea pig appear. He had an assistant and his name was Ben.  I learned that  Hands are for helping not for hurting . Here are some pictures. 

Plastic

In Room 5 we have been writing about plastic. It is a problem because it is killing the animals and it needs to stop. The turtles think that plastic is jellyfish and eat it  and it kills them.

The Plastic Mountain
I gaze around at all the plastic and I cannot see the ground because there is too much plastic. I can see more plastic than everything else that is here. Green and white bottles are piling onto each other. I try to sort them out. I stare at plastic that is all the same. It is so stressful.
I say, “Nana can we go home?”
She says no.
“But it stinks Nana,” I say.
 “I know but do you want tea?” says Nana.
“Yes so we need to do this non-stop,” I say to myself. We are not going to get out of here.
I hear a car go past and hear people dropping plastic bottles and throwing them in the big bags. That makes it more plastic to clean up. I feel sorry for the animals because they are dying because of us. We can fix it but I need your help.

Shapes

In room 5 we have been learning about shapes. We had to have a certain amount and we had 3 each.  We had to have the name of the shape, and the number of sides,and if it is a 2 dimensional shape. Here is my and Violets screencastify.

Jenny Sommervell

On Tuesday the 28th of August we had an author come and her name is Jenny and she told us about her life.A book she wrote was The Day Dad Blew Up the Cow Shed, and The Eel Hunt. On the bus ride home from school when she was 12 she wrote books and sometimes she read a book.

In Room 5 we were doing symmetry. In math time we were learning about symmetry. Symmetry is all about the split in the middle. but they have to be even on each side.

In room 5 we had to read a book and then we had to make a google drawing.We had to put our goals for term 3 and what book we are reading then we had to put on the book that we are reading at home.  

Fraction Art

In Room 5 we have been learning about fractions and we use paper and scissors and then we had to make a lot of circles and then we cut the circles out.  I have used 9 sixteenths and 1 half on my jellyfish.

Sid

In room 5 we have been writing about a cat that goes to our school that is called Sid.

Sid

Meow meow! I was going into the classroom when I saw a little black and white cat with swampy green eyes.   

Sid got his name from the book in class called Six Dinner Sid. He gets his name because Sid gets fed six times a day.

Sid is black and white and he has green eyes and on his nose is a bit black.

Sid sleeps on the hay by the chickens.


Sid is a cat that gets into mischief like the time he got into room 5 and he climbed on the desk.

In Room 5 we were learning about Pablo Picasso. We had to learn how to mix colours and here is my painting.

 In Room 5 we have been going to the library and getting books and we had to make a reading profile.

Self Portraits

In Room 5 we have been learning to draw self portraits. We  were learning where to put the eyes and the nose and the eyebrows. I had some trouble drawing the ears and the nose.  We had to fold the paper so there were lines in there so we could position our features.

In the holidays Room 5 had to make a google drawing with a descriptive sentence from a book I have read.

Hunting and Fishing

Walking to the hares that are lying on top of each other in a truck I feel sorry for them but I guess it has to happen. As I look closer I see that the hares have been shot in different places. Their eyes are staring at me. I have always wondered what hares eyes look like and they are red. And I bet the fur was soft when they were alive. But then I see some hares are in yellow bags and they are on top of the other hares. 
I walk away from the hares and I wonder what will happen to them.  

What is Rock ?

In room 5 my reading group has a book about rock. We have learning to find words about the topic. This is my list of words about rock.

How To Be A Be A Successful Iearner

In Room 5  we had to think  about  what we could do to be a better learner in school, and the whole of Room 5 had to think about that.
